Charity

Sacramento Lodge operates the Otero Masonic Charity Fund. The fund is named after Miguel A. Otero Sr. who is the name-sake of Otero County. Brother Otero was a prominent attorney and Freemason who held a number of territorial government positions. He was a member of Montezuma Lodge No. 1 in Santa Fe.

The charity fund is supported by fund-raising efforts and donations. Donations can be made at the Lodge or on-line at our Payments page. Checks should be made out to Sacramento Lodge No. 24 with charity written in the memo.

The Lodge’s charity work centers around providing relief for people who find themselves in a temporary hardship and an annual scholarship.

Each year the Lodge selects an Alamogordo High School graduate to receive a $2,000 scholarship to attend NMSU-Alamogordo. Applications should be submitted in January, February or March. Applicant qualifications are based in part on the Fall semester grades.
